Voice of the Pastor: May 2012

There is more to living for God than having a prayer life, frequently reading your Bible, being faithful to church, etc.  By now, all of you know how important that I feel about doing those things.  That’s why I instituted the “Back to Basics” program at the beginning of this year.

However, doing those things was not intended to be an end in itself.  It is rather a means to an end.  God wanted us to do those things in order to prepare us to do what he REALLY called us to do.  What is exactly that you may ask?  The answer to that question is found in Matthew 28:19.  It is called the Great Commission.

          “Go ye therefore and teach all nations…”

I am very glad that many members of our congregation have responded so well by doing the “basics”.  By now, we should be ready to do the next phase and “teach”.  In order to better prepare individuals for the task beyond the basics, we are conducting a three-day Bible teaching seminar in the month of May.  It is entitled, “Life Studies Workshop”.  This seminar will be taught by Pastor Max Manley from Salinas, California.  Bro. Manley has helped develop this teaching program that has been very successful in training people (from most ages and backgrounds) to teach the simplicity of God’s Word.  The concept here is that ANYONE with a little training can teach someone something about God’s Word.  The proof is in the pudding.  Recipients of this workshop training have immediately gone into the field with positive results.  Many pastors have stated that their people have won many others to God in a short time utilizing the principles taught in this Biblically based seminar.  How exciting!

Be sure to register ASAP for this seminar at the display table located in the foyer of the church.  The dates are Thursday, May 17 @ 7:00 p.m.; Friday, May 18 @ 7:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 19 @ 9:30 a.m.  The cost is $35.00 for FWC members and $75.00 for other attendees.

Challenge yourself this year and teach someone a Life Study.  You’ll find no greater joy in living for God than leading someone else to Christ. You’ll be glad you did!
